Equally Likely Events A ½ chance. An even chance for all outcomes.
Empirical Rule A statistical rule stating that for a normal distribution, almost all data will fall within three standard deviations of the mean.
Duality The general correspondence between a confidence interval and the significance test
Descriptive Statistics Used to describe a study in which both the researcher the participant are unaware of the nature of the treatment the participant is receiving.
Degrees of Freedom The number of independent pieces of information that go into the estimate of a parameter
Critical Values It is the value that a test statistic must exceed in order for the null hypothesis to be rejected
Correlation Coefficient Measures the strength and the direction of a linear relationship between two variables.
Convenience Sample Chooses the individuals that are easiest to reach or sampling that is done easy. Does not represent the entire population, so it is considered bias.
